Okay, so if you are coming into this post thinking I am going to mention series like Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Twilight, etc. Sorry to disappoint because while everyone was reading these, I was probably playing games and watching TV, in other words, I was not a reader at all. I only started seriously reading around the age of 15, during a phase where supernaturals and love triangles where all that I wanted out of a book- ah my fledgling reading days ,how I don’t miss them.
So with that being said, and if you are still interested, here are a few series that got me into reading:
Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare
I remember back in Grade 10, I started at a new school and met some new friends. One of my friends was an avid reader and somehow convinced me to read Clockwork Angel, I couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed the book and ended up finishing the trilogy within that same week. That being said, I also don’t remember much about the series because I read it so quickly, all I know is that I enjoyed reading it.
2. The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare
It was an obvious choice to pick up the mortal instruments series after finishing and loving the infernal devices, and surprise, surprise I loved it.
So for the most part the main series that got me into reading were Cassandra Clare’s series, but the series that cemented by love for reading were:
3. Hush Hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick
I have such fond memories of this series, I experienced my first book crush with Patch, who to this day is still on of my favourite book boyfriends. I am aware that some readers have issues with this series, although I don’t know what they are because I honestly don’t want to critically think of this series. I am not planning on picking it up again, so it can stay safe in a little corner of my heart.
4. Halo trilogy by Alexandra Adornetto
If you can’t tell, I went through a major angel phase where I was obsessed with fallen angels on angels in ya in general. Now while I didn’t love this series, it always comes to mind when I think back to my fledgling reading days, so I only felt it fair to mention it.
5. Darke Academy by Gabriella Poole
And for a finally nod to my fledgling reading days, I thought I would mention a trilogy that I only picked up because the author’s name is the same as mine, but I ending up enjoying it anyway.
So these were 5 book series that got me into reading, there were a lot more that I could have mentioned but I didn’t want to write a book instead of a post, so I will leave it with these.
What were some of the series that got you into read? I would love to know. I hope you guys have had an amazing weeks and I will speak to you in the next post and comments.
Tootles, Gaby 🙂
