Sometimes I like to just get in the car and drive without any direction in mind. I just go in a general direction and stop at places that pique my curiosity. This small act of spontaneity within my week takes me away from my overly planned and general day to day life. Allowing me to explore places I probably wouldn’t have gone out of my way to visit.
Here is one of those trips…
Last Sunday I hopped into the car and went on a mini road-trip. Our first stop was Grotto Bay a small residential area right on the coast that boasts amazing views of the ocean and a pebble beach.
It was so peaceful, there was no sound apart from the crashing waves. We sat there for about an hour, just listening to and observing the ocean. I can’t even put into words the colours that the ocean was that day. The best I can describe it is that it was turqouise in the shallow ends with an ombre transition into a dark Prussian blue colour, it was magnificent.
After we left Grotto Bay we headed toward Yzerfontein a few km away. Yzerfontein is a quiet community that boasts a series of small shops and homes and beautiful ocean views.
By the docking bay there is a beautiful garden that is made up of walkways covered in shells, arrays of different species of plants, little benches and quirky signs.
The garden was created so that people could sit and watch the fisherman on the water and simply relax.
Ad thats is it for my little spontaneous trip down the coast, it is amazing what you can come across when you dont have a destination in mind and just enjoy the journer.
